Zine Class, Tag Nr Zwei

Bonjour!

It's the second day in zine class, and I brought my laptop today, which is mighty nice, especially because it means that I can download all the videos and media from yesterday's NRJ awards.

I am currently struggling to write an introduction to my zine. It's hard to do, without sounding corny, or too air-headed.

While I think, here are some pictures that I took for my zine! I had a Durch Den Monsun moment in the rain, and thanks to Savannah's mad photography skillz, I have pictures to prove it. There are more, but I don't have the time to get them oriented properly, so here is one in the rain and then another picture:

I have been so out of my mind with no time. I don't like being behind on reading/blogging 'cause it is teh LAME. But these thing happen. I apologize and hope to get back up to speed soon.

On another note, my best friend is completely rad and I love my sunglasses.

EPs!!! In Meiner Hand!

Kabob is probably my favourite person in the world right now, because it is thanks to her that I now have EPs! I know!! I still can't even quite believe it...I have to keep glancing over to know that they're real. Wow.

It's really happening. I know I keep saying that...I know that you must be thinking "ja, eNOUGH already, we realise that you're excited, blah blah blah" but you don't understand. Probably. And if you do...then you know exactly what kind of strangled squealing noises issued forth from my mouth after I opened the padded envelope and held them in my hands. And why my heartbeat hasn't quite slowed down. And why I still haven't opened them because I can't bear to. Wow.

I'm not going to keep both of them, one is going to go to my beloved Hanna (with whom I had a total K-twins drool session with today- love ya, kid!). But one will still be mine. And I think I may have another one in the mail to me, so that I can have one open to play and gaze at, and another to just...have.

I'm also going to submit the above picture (unfortunately I couldn't get a good one with all four boys...stupid poster is uncooperative...GUSTI I LOVE YOU) to the Official eTeam in the hopes of winning this tshirt:

...because you know I would look totally hot in it. I probably won't win, because they are only giving away 20 of them and some fans have bought a zillion EPs, but hey, I did my best!

Fred Flare Book Club - Kinda The Best Thing Ever!

I can't believe that I'm a week late on posting this up...my excuse is that I didn't get the book right away and then was super-busy this week. Anyway, better late then never, riiiight?

Did you see the post on the Fred Flare Blog a month ago about the Fred Flare Book Club? You can click the link to chex it out, but pretty much what happened is Keith posted about how awesome books are and asked for people's suggestions for the first ever Fred Flare Book Club pick! About a gazillion people commented, which was amazing, and about eight trillion fantastic books were suggested! Keith and I looked through all of them, and, after much difficult narrowing down, picked this book:

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Stephen Chbosky

I first encountered it at SEP about 3 years ago or so when a girl had a copy and my entire floor read it. I totally loved it, but it kind of slipped to the back of my consciousness and I didn't really think about it much (except for random times) until now. So, what's it about? Well, the back has a pretty darned awesome blurb so I'll just type that up:

Standing on the fringes of life offers a unique perspective. But there comes a time to see what it looks like from the dance floor. So...that convince you? Not quite? OK. The reason why I love this book is that it is written in a beautiful, simple style. Charlie knows the perfect words to match the emotions and experiences of his life. Charlie is innocent, funny, insightful, and willing to share his life with the unnamed "friend" through letters. He's pretty much everything I wish I was, and, since he is named "Charlie," I kind of like to pretend that I am him, some times. It sure would be nice to have someone to write letters to, like he does. Someone who listens but doesn't respond so they don't judge you or tell you you're right or wrong or do this or that or anything...

I would definitely recommend reading this book!! If you don't have a copy, pick up one at the library! Fred Flare also has it on special for $9.99, or you can stop by your local independent bookstore. Read it, enjoy it, and stop in at the FF Blog on October 17 for a super discussion of fun!!

Tokio Hotel on Fred Flare! Holy JEEZ!

You cannot even begin to imagine my reaction when I was innocently scrolling down the page at the Fred Flare Blog and saw the words TOKIO HOTEL big as life. It was a total squealing breaks back up read that again holy cow it really says that! Yep, Tokio Hotel have made their debut on the Fred Flare Blog! And, in one fell swoop, my two greatest loves (sorry, Orli!) were combined. My gosh. You have to realise that any time that FF mentions me I pretty have a hernia with glee...and TH has me regularly freaking out at little provocation...so combine the two and I go bat shizzle insane! Who knew that a day with a Trig test could be this awesome?

Pigtails

Sometimes laziness results in cool hair styles. This morning I didn't really want to blow dry/straighten my hair like usual (so didn't have time, either), and so I french-braided that shizZz! Its almost not long enough, but works (I hair sprayed it a bit afterword, just in case) if it's wet, which it was.

They've actually stuck around all day (it's 2:30 now), which is a happy surprise!

And ja, those dark circles under my eyes are due to lack of sleep, not make up (left that off, as well). Yesss for weekends!

Eyeliner

...especially when she has not had the opportunity to properly goth it up for a while, heh heh heh. I used to go the whole eyeliner/black lipstick route quite a bit, but had to resist whilst in Italy, and then it's kinda hard to pull off with bright pink hair. Especially, you know, if you don't look particularly gothy, like me. So when I get the chance...I go all out!

Nightmare

Oh, aren't I cute??? ::giggles:: I haven't debuted this look at school yet, but I'm a little worried to. Not that I'm usually one to worry about what other people think, but I already stick out enough, and that look can be kinda super-hard for people to deal with. I dunno... Eh...it's kind of a pain in the bum to maintain all day.

Hmm, since I'm a dirty little attention h-bag, I'll share another pic with you!

I thought that one was funny...but couldn't think of a proper caption. Except for Tomi & Gusti are prolly going to kill me for blocking them. Whatever, they have enough bloody pictures as is.

Hmmmm....can't really think of much else to share!! My day had been pretty uneventful thus far. Oh c-rap, it's already 8 pm. I gotz to eat something für dinner and then...finish my Civics. Oh yeah, speaking of school, we tried it out in Phys and my hair does glow under black light! It was pretty much the most amazing thing ever, and then Rog (the teacher) drew the things on the board that are in my hair that it makes it do that, and said that they're carcinogenic if ingested but I told him that's okay, I wasn't exactly planning on drinking it anyway. Now I have to bring in the dye bottle so that he can examine the ingredient list. Scientists... ::shakes head::

I also ((finally)) got my September Vogue!! It's about the size of a house, and so we got a package tag for it in the mail box. I'll put a pic of it up later...not now, because #&(@ing PhotoBooth is frozen again. GJ, StrongBad, GJ.

College Essays Make Me Chuckle

Indicate a person who has had significant influence on you, and describe that influence.

    Most artists have muses. Though some may feel it a stretch to call me an “artist,” it’s safe to say that I have a muse. Or, maybe not even that, as it is rather fancy sounding and rather pretentious. Let’s just say that I have Charlotte. Unclassifiable but without a doubt classy, Charlotte is the one that keeps me going in what is (usually) the right direction, and always gives her advice, whether I ask for it or not. And I always follow it.
    I don’t remember, exactly, the day Charlotte came into my life. It wasn’t one of those things that would always stay with me, every detail, from the precise color of the linoleum floor of the house three numbers down on the left-hand side to the slightly citrusy scent of the shampoo she had used that morning. No, I don’t remember any of that. I just know that one day she wasn’t there, and the next day she was. It was as simple as that. She had hair the color of a neon sign and chewed her nails while she spoke, muffling language that would make a sailor blush. She was amazing.
    Around the time that she showed up I had been in Italy on student exchange for eight months, away from my family, my friends, everything that was normal for me. I felt like I was stagnating, like I wasn’t able to change into who I really was, like there was this other me, just around the corner, but I couldn’t quite reach her. Charlotte was everything that I wanted to be: different, intelligent, pretty, and with a name that seemed to be something out of an 1800s romance novel.
    Charlie got me through the last month of my stay in Italy, helped me adjust to life back at home, and counseled me on how to manage eight 12 year old boys during my time as a Junior Counselor at Nerd Camp. She convinced me to bleach out my Italy-colored brown hair and dye it a retina-burning fuchsia to match her own, and then forced me to stand by my self when those pink locks got me fired from the job that I had been waiting all year for, a job that I needed. As always, she was right, and I now have a better job and my hair is amazing.
    Charlotte keeps me strong. Sometimes she lets me wallow, but then she makes me get up, man up, dust myself off and keep going because crying doesn’t help anything and smears your makeup besides. She doesn’t care what other people think I am, or think I should be, she knows what I am, more than I do.
    Thanks to Charlotte, I’ve braver, more inclined to fight for what I want, and have a better idea of what, exactly, it is that I want. And, heck, she had me at “hello.” Or, more accurately, she had me at “Hello, I’m Charlotte. Who the eff are you?”
