Sarah Vonderhaar, Are You Listening Now
Since I don't watch America's Next Top Model I probably would never have encountered Sarah had it not been for the rad peeps at Fred Flare. Check out their interview with her! It is also thanks to them that I now am in possession of her super CD, Are You Listening Now. Though I would not say that it is my "type" of music (um, I have a type? Not so much) it would be untrue to say that it is not pretty much in constant rotation in my stereo and on my iPod. She's got a great voice, and the music is super-fun. Very summery, I reckon! I recommend it, fo' shizz.
Key tracks: All Mine, I Got Sunshine, Are You Listening Now

Madonna, Hard Candy
I was pretty much really excited for this record. I fell hard for 4 Minutes (largely thanks to this video), then when Chris posted a performance vid of Candy Shop and I was hooked. Unfortunately...the rest of the album (incl. the studio version of Candy Shop) kinda disappointed me. After the pop powah of 4 Minz the rest seemed a bit...bland. I expected more from her. Come on, she's Madonna. After listening to it all week, though, it's starting to grow on me. On some of the tracks her voice is just too produced, and Spanish Lessons? Come on. Still, Incredible is, and I definitely am liking a lot of the other songs. I'm going to Amoeba on the school trip to San Francisco this week, I will decide by then if I want to drop teh $$$ on it.
Duffy, Rockferry
Everyone and their mother seem to have fallen teakettle over handlebars for Duffy, so I just had to check her out. B'sides, anyone with hair that rad has to be good, right? Right? Maybe not. I listened to Mercy, which is her first single here. It did not impress me. It's not so much bad as just not the excellence I expected from the hype. The tune is great, but it doesn't work with her voice. Though I could have just dismissed Duffy after that, I also listened to Distant Dreamer, and I liked that a lot more. It has a slower tempo, and frees her voice from the a lot of the grating sound that hampers Mercy. I want to listen to the title track, Rockferry, at least, before I come to my final conclusion, but the outlook for a Lotty/Duffy romance isn't looking great.
So, yep! And I am going to buy these sexy sexy headphones from Fred Flare so's I can listen in style!

Lotte
Heyyyy!
Are you totes jealous of Hanna and me because we can look so cute while making obnoxious faces? Thought so. Anyway, that picture was taken yesterday at school, a day that was annoyingly warm (though cooler than the past few) and was also Passage Presentation night! That means that for the past couple days I have been spending quality time with the photocopier and gluestick, getting Schrei Nr 2 all ready for distribution, + my presentation board all fixed up with the originals.
It went pretty well, I reckon! I talked a lot, got rid of a bunch of my zines (though I still have many, want one or three?), and, due to the fact that I was next to Asa, can now give his entire presentation about fishing and civil engineering (two separate projects). Oh yeah, and I sweated a lot. Why is it so hot??
Unfortch I am still grounded 'cause of funtime schoolshizz...that is the reason why I ahm a-bloggin' and not at Senior Prom. You know how it goes.
OK now more pictures of H&me 'cause my hair waved perfectly for once and I am wearing my bitchin' TokiDoki polka rock dress and gold heart doorknockers from Fred Flare.
Mad liebe,
Lotte
I am just going to copy/paste her email so's you can experience the awesome:
A bit after 2:00 I saw Tobi just standing there leaning in the corner of a barrier staring into space, so I remembered Charlotte's letters and though to go give them to him! So I went up and everyone's looking at me thinking "what the f*** is she doing?" and I'm like "T..obi..." and I'm shaking, he didn't answer but kept staring the opposite direction from me, so I fiddled with my envelopes for a good 5 seconds out of nervousness wondering if it actually was Tobi. It was really embarassing because of the people watching me xD "Tobi." he turns around "Whaaa?" in a way that made it clear he heard me the first time. Here's the rest of the convo:
Me: Uhh could you....give these to Saki and Dunja for me from my friend Charlotte.... (fiddle with letters nervously)
Tobi: Who are they?
Me: Uhh...Saki is the other awesome guy from the VSD who's their bodyguard...and Dunja is their interpreter person...
Tobi: How would you know that?
Me: Umm the internet?
Tobi: What's written on the internet? Come over here, I want to talk to you. (I'm spazzing out inside my mind practically shitting my pants, we move over a few feet)
Tobi: So what is written on the internet, don't worry I'm not going to hurt you I'm the good guy
Me: Oh I know, the VSD is awesome. (but very quietly 'cause I have no idea what to say)
Me: Uhh mostly just how awesome they are... and stuff
Tobi: Well Dunja is not their interpreter, but she helps
Me: Oh...ok (I feel stupid xD )
Tobi: Let me see those. (I hold them facing him so he can see that they say "Saki Pelka" and "Dunja Pechner" Ohh... (he looks kind of surprised we knew their last names)
Tobi: Who are they from again?
Me: My friend Charlotte
Tobi: What exactly is in the letters?
Me: (gahhhofnekdsvbeujkdsgnm;av ) I don't know, she mailed them to me from California because she can't get to any of the concerts
Tobi: I like California, nice place...I'll think abou-no I will do it give them to me.
Me: (AQHNCKSMHB Q>HNVLSDJKHXNV OMG passes letters to Tobi) Thank you so much!
Tobi: (I actually don't remember what he says, but he puts them in his pocket)
Then I walk back, I am shaking like CRAZY and I found out my mom TOOK A PICTURE exactly when I was handing him the letters, it's so cool, now I have one with Saki&Tobi I'll post it soon.
Bwuahahahahahah! Why is dang Hanna at Prom, I need to talk to her.
Shaking with the awesome,
Charlotte
That it is like a physical pain.
Anyway, that's off topic. My doll house. It was gorgeous, all hand-made and wood and whatnot, and I bought the most beautiful furniture and whatnot for it. Going around and finding stuff for it was so much fun! Back then they carried doll house furniture at the pet store here in town, which is a bit weird, I suppose. I bought this lovely white bed that had some great wirework on it, and some great chairs, and all that. Unfortunately...I broke a lot of it. Not on purpose, I just did. I guess doll houses and the like are just too fragile for me. Like people's hearts.
Sorry, I had to. *g*
But yeah, I miss it. It was rather awesome. Just like Lillix. Which was a totally rockin' band a few years ago, but now half the lineup is different, there is a dude, and apparently they have not done anything since 2007. Damn.
Aiight kids catchyaz later!
Liebe,
Lotte
Well, nothing is, but I'm listening to that Miley song, so...
Hey, guess what? I got another job! At the Supermarket. Come June, I will be the most badass cashier this town has ever seen. Say Hello to my new employer! And yes, I'm still gonna be working at the bookstore. Don't you fret.
Um...what else? I miss little!Bill's voice. Even though I was not a fan until well after it changed. Heh.
Well, if you'll excuse me (since I have nothing else interesting to say), I have hella much work to do. (How much do I love "hella" and the fact that it's a Bay Area/Northern California expression? So much! I am so regional. Heh.)
I had a dream about surfing with the Queen Mum. A year ago, but still rad, neh?
Much love,
Charlotte
P.S. What did you do for your mumsie on Mother's Day? I baked mine a sponge cake. It was delicious.
P.P.S. Today is a signing by TH at the Hot Topic in Hollywood where I bought my EPs! Excitement! OMGWTFBBQ!
P.P.P.S. Juno is an excellent movie.
So, I was thinking about it, and I think I do things kind of backwards. Not all things, mind you, I put my pants on the right way and walk the way my feet point, but some things... for example. Do you ever get in those moods where you feel like you can take on the world? All "Rrrawr, I'm awesome!" and shizzle? Well, I do. Problem is, they usually come on at 9 pm or later, which leaves me all gung-ho and super psyched to...sit on my dang couch. Sometimes it makes me really productive and I can crank out some homework, but usually it just means that I put on red lipstick and sit around in my pajamas feeling badass. The obnoxious thing is that these moods hardly ever carry over to the morning. You'd think that, in the morning, one would wake up more ready than ever to go get 'em, and then by the end of the day be worn down and less like that. Only I wake up, think "oh crap another day" and then by the evening am all "Whee! Super duper!" Gosh, I weird.
Actual conversation that happened today:
Lotte: "Hey mom! Guess who's playing in New York in October? That's not Tokio Hotel?"
Mom: "Um... I don't know."
Lotte: "MADONNA!"
Mom: "Is that supposed to be something exciting?"
Lotte: "Uh, DUH."
Mom: "But she's old!"
Lotte: "Look who's talking."
Seriously, when did being old stop people from rocking? At least Madonna still looks good. Unlike, oh, I don't know, any member of the Rolling Stones.
I started this hours ago but now I am sleepy, so good night!

Lately I have been cultivating a somewhat unhealthy obsession with the Flobots. Namely their song "Handlebars." If you haven't heard it, get your hiney to the nearest audio-listening outlet and give it a whirl. It is seriously catchy and excellent. And, um, it talks about splitting molecules. And comic books. And all the other things that make life worth living.
Other than that it's been pretty much schuleTag 24/7 for me. Either I am working on something or I should be working on something, it's completely bonkers. And tomorrow I have an AP English exam! For three hours! In the morning! I'm sure you can smell my excitement from here.
One highlight: My BestBuy edition of Scream came today! It is sexy sexy and has a genius DVD that causes dangerously large grins in its viewers. Well, the ones named Charlotte, anyway.
Oh, and TH on TRL yesterday? "Were met with more hysteria than Elvis and John Lennon, had they both risen from the dead and played a spontaneous acoustic set with Jesus." (MTV Buzzworthy) Haha! It is kind of freaky how much I love MTV now.
Aiight kidderoos I'm out.
